Collection of data for the Niagara Region Domestic Violence Report Card Project (DVRCP) ended in June 2009. The initial premise for the report card was to provide the community with a 'snapshot in time' of the response to the issue of violence against women. The findings of this report were presented over the two days.

White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa, Niagara-on-the-Lake

Nearly 100 donors and volunteers gathered at White Oaks on June 10th to celebrate a year of success at Gillian's Place. Attendees enjoyed a wine and cheese reception and listened to "Jane" tell the story of how Gillian's Place changed her life from one of violence and desperation to one of safety and hope. Executive Director Anne Armstrong, spoke about the past, present and future of our organization.

12th Annual Gillian's Place Charity Golf Tournament

Thank you to all our golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers for your support of the 12th Annual Gillian's Place Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament net $37,500 for Gillian's Place! Over the past twelve years the tournament has netted over $379,500 for abused women and their children.

Since January of 2010, our shelter has been at full capacity and our out-reach program has increased by 32% over last year. The support of our community is needed now more than ever. 18th Annual Women in Music Concert

Gillian ’s Place challenged the men of St. Catharines and North Niagara to Walk a Mile in HER Shoes – more than 90 men took up the challenge  and raised $37,000 in support of Gillian’s Place!

Gillian’s Place Annual General Meeting

September 16, 2009

Our Annual General Meeting held on September 16th at The Heatherwood Retirement Residence once again gave us the opportunity to thank our dedicated volunteers and donors. We were very pleased to have as a guest speaker Ian DeGeer, who presented a preview of the First Domestic Violence Report Card for Niagara. The full report will be available soon on the CEVAW web site www.cevaw.com

Our Volunteers continue to inspire us through their dedication and efforts, showing they want to make a difference in the lives of abused women and their children. We were able to acknowledge some “milestones” of a few of our volunteers. Mark Zavitz accepted his 5 year pin from Anne Armstrong, Executive Director and Susanne DiLalla, President of the Board of Directors. Celebrating 10 years of service with Gillian’s Place were Irene Quinn and Vicki Doidge. We would like to express our thanks to the many men and women who share of their time and talents to Gillian’s Place.

Retiring Board Members Irene Quinn and Mario Prudente were thanked by Susan DiLalla for their years of commitment and guidance to Gillian’s Place. They will be missed by all.

Welcome New Board Members John Hayes, Karen Moncur and Troy Brooks.  We look forward to their contribution to our Board of Directors
